World Class Master Artist
“My dialogue with the world is a visual one.
The universe is already created for us with all its beauty and wonders.”
Born in Kazan, Tatarstan in 1962, Rinat Baibekov comes from a distinguished family of painters of Tatar ancestry. He began sketching and painting at a very young age, attending full-time art courses alongside primary school.
After studying at the Kazan Art College and the Kharkov Academy of Fine Art, where he majored in Public Art (Monumental Art), Baibekov worked as a professional artist in St. Petersburg until 1990. He then moved to Toronto, Canada, before settling in the United Kingdom in 1998 — first in Cambridge, later in Lowestoft, Suffolk, where he continues to paint and exhibit.
Working predominantly in acrylic, yet fluent in watercolour, oils, drawing, and fresco, Baibekov’s art is loosely associated with Surrealism. His work weaves humans and animals, plants and music, philosophy and myth into luminous, enigmatic compositions that reward close looking — often containing a picture within a picture.
“My father, also an artist, taught me that if you do not have a teacher, go to Mother Nature. Nature’s richness is beyond our grasp, every new look revealing more and more.”
